Halal meat business has no impact amid call for a boycott of 'Halal' meat, says meat shop owners in Karnataka, due to the huge demand in several communities across the state including Hindus for non-vegetarian feast. The controversy just came up ahead of the 'Varshadodaku' festival which is celebrated the day after Ugadi. "There is no impact as such on the meat vendors," said Mahesh Tenginkai, BJP General Secretary Karnataka.

BJP General Secretary CT Ravi Calls Halal As 'Economic Jihad'
BJP General Secretary CT Ravi issued a statement amid fury over the boycott of "Halal. He called Halal an 'economic Jihad'. The BJP legislator in Bengaluru said, "It (Halal) has been put in place so that Muslims don’t do business with others, which has been forced upon them". Notably, in Karnataka, former CM HD Kumaraswamy called such boycott as a trend to spoil the state, amid the Halal Meat row.
