Vinod Kumar, Tek Chand To Attend Paralympics Opening Ceremony

Vinod Kumar, discus-thrower, and Tek Chand, javelin-thrower are two of five Indian athletes who will witness the Tokyo Paralympics opening-ceremony. About 54 para-athletes from across nine sports disciplines will be present and this is India's largest-ever Paralympic participation. The event will commence on August 24 and will continue till September 5. Rio 2016 Gold Medalist, Thangavelu Mariyappan will delegate the event.

Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu Bags Bronze, Defeats China's He Bingjao

Indian shuttler and world champion PV Sindhu added another medal to India's tally winning bronze by defeating eighth-seeded He Bingjiao of China (21-13, 21-15) in women's singles badminton at Tokyo Olympics. PV Sindhu became the first Indian female Olympian to win consecutive two medals internationally. Meanwhile, wrestler Sushil Kumar is the only Indian to win two individual medals at the Olympics.

Indian Judoka Sushila Devi Loses In Women's 48kg At Tokyo Olympics

India's only Judo silver medalist Sushila Devi Likmabam was taken down by Eva Csernoviczki, a bronze medalist from Hungary at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sushila Devi went down 10-0 in the Women's 48kg elimination round of 32 at Nippon Budokan - Mat 1. Sushila Devi was struck down by the Hungarian for 20 seconds to gain the match point. The Hungarian ranks 24 while India's Sushila Devi ranks 46 in the world.

Vaccinate Tokyo Olympics Athletes On Top Priority: PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi on June 3 directed the officials to vaccinate Tokyo Olympics athletes and their support staff at the earliest as a part of India's preparedness for the event. "From vaccination to training facilities, every need of our sportspersons must be fulfilled on top priority," said PM Modi.
