ACB Arrests Thane Civil Hospital Clerk For Taking Bribe: Maharashtra

In Thane Civil Hospital, a 50-year-old clerk was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on April 13.  The arrest was made after a victim registered a complaint that the accused demanded Rs 1,05,000 from the person for facilitating clearance of the latter's bills, said ACB in a release. Acting upon the complaint, the ACB planned a trap for the clerk and arrested him red-handed, at a hotel.

On the occasion of BR Ambedkar Jayanti, the 14 April, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aditya Thakeray paid tributes to BR Ambedkar, the key architect of India's Constitution at Dadar. On April 14, the Shiv Sena leaders and Cabinet Ministers remembered BR Ambedkar, who played a crucial role in the struggle of India's freedom movement. He was also India's first Law Minister and founder of the Indian Constitution.

Security Forces On High Alert Amid Upcoming Festivals In Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Police deployed high number of security forces in the state, to avoid any kind of clashes and religious violence, during the upcoming festivals.  In regard to this, approximately two lakh police personnel, 38,000 home guards, and 100 State Police Force (SPF) companies are on high alert, including the sensitive districts of the State. The Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra issued orders regarding the same.

HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd, separate entities, announced a merger on April 4. Although the talks of the deal were underway, the final announcement was made during an event in Mumbai. A senior official close to the development said, "The evaluation had been going on but it moved over the last couple of weeks and got finalized". 4 Ashram Students Fall Ill After Consuming Meal In Bhiwandi

The Civic Health officials in Bhiwandi, Thane, Maharashtra, reported that four students of Ashram schools fell ill after consuming food at the school premises. CM Thackeray To Inaugurate 7 & 2A Metro Lines On Gudipadva: Maharashtra

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackery will launch two new metro lines 2A (18 km) & 7 (33.50 km) on April 2. The two metro trains will enroute to Dahisar East- Andheri East (2A) and Dahisar West-Andheri West (7), benefiting Mumbai's suburban population. Maulvi Arrested For Assaulting 8-Year-Old: Maharashtra

In Palghar, Maharashtra, a Maulvi was arrested for allegedly abducting a minor, and sexually assaulting her. On March 27, the accused offered chocolate to the 8-year-old and allegedly abused her. He was caught by locals, who later informed the police. A case has been registered under various provisions of IPC and POCSO Act. Reportedly, the accused is in judicial custody and will be produced before court on March 28.

Fire Breaks Out At Thane Godown In Maharashtra; No Casualties Reported

A major fire incident was reported in a godown, in Thane, Maharashtra, on the morning of March 26. According to ANI, the fire broke out at around 3:20 am in Kanya Nagar region. The local Municipal Corporation said that the firefighting operations are underway and no casualties have been reported so far. Furthermore, the reason behind the fire is still uncertain. An investigation is underway.
