Several Parts Of Mumbai Waterlogged; IMD Predicts Rainfall For Next 24 Hours
The city of Mumbai is experiencing water-logging across several areas due to incessant heavy rainfall, on October 8. The IMD has predicted that Mumbai will receive moderate to heavy rain with a cloudy sky, for the next 24 hours. IMD has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Gujarat, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Yanam in the upcoming couple of days.

Chandani Chowk Bridge In Pune Demolished To Combat City’s Traffic
Chandani Chowk Bridge, an old bridge on National Highway 4 (Pune-Bangalore Highway), has been demolished using controlled impulsion to help with the city’s traffic woes. The demolition project was started on September 13, and was initially scheduled to be finished within a week. The project got delayed due to bad weather. Several arrangements have been made to alternate the vehicular movement until the debris is successfully removed.

Slab Of 5th Floor Of Building Collapses In Maharashtra’s Thane; 1 Labourer Dead, 1 Injured
In Maharashtra’s Thane, the slab of the fifth floor of the Komal Park building collapsed, informed investigating officer Laxmikant Patil, on August 26. The incident left one labourer dead, and another injured. Following the incident, helpers rushed and evacuated everyone from the building. Meanwhile, the building has been sealed by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, he stated. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Maharashtra Man Gets Life Sentence In Wife's Murder Case
In Maharashtra, a court has sentenced life imprisonment to an accused Santosh Shelke (50) for killing his wife in 2018. The session court judge Shoukat Gorwade also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the accused. Notably, Shelke killed his wife (40) suspecting love affair. Announcing verdict, the judge said the prosecution has proved all charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced imprisonment.

Maharashtra Needs Separate Law University, Says SC Justice S Oka
Supreme Court's Justice Abhay S Oka demanded a separate law university in Maharashtra. On April 14, Oka addressed a conference organised by the Bar Council of Maharashtra, Goa and Thane District Courts Bar Association, and emphasized the need for Maharashtra Law university.
