J&K Police Deny Mehbooba Mufti's Claim Of Being Under House Arrest

After accusations from former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti for being "illegally" detained, the police have responded that the act was for security reasons. Mehbooba has tweeted on November 27 that she and her daughter were house arrested. She also blamed the J&K administration for refusing her permission to visit Pulwama to meet the family of Waheed Rehman Para. However, the police have denied the accusations of house arrest.

Muzaffar Hussain Baig, a Founding member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) resigned due to a disagreement in the seat-sharing, on November 14. Ex-Officers' Group Demands Arrest Of Mufti, Farooq For Anti-India Remarks

A group of intelligentsia in J&K has raised voice against Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah and has demanded the arrest of the two leaders. A total of 267 signatories, including former Army, Navy and All Indian Services officers, have alleged that that recent comments by the leaders were anti-India. Former chief justice of Rajasthan High Court Anil Deo Singh and ex-chief of RAW Sanjeev Tripathi were notable among the signatories.
