New Zealand Reports First COVID-19 Case After 6 Months

The health department of New Zealand reported the first case of COVID-19 after six months since February 28 in Auckland on August 17. The department is trying to trace ''a link between the case'' so that the spread of the infection can be curbed. ''Everyone in New Zealand is asked to stay calm,'' said the department. Notably, New Zealand has registered only 26 death among the five million population.

With a global audience of 177 million, the India-New Zealand series becomes the most-watched match of the "World Test Championship", according to the ICC. The India-New Zealand series was viewed by 200,000 people in New Zealand, while India contributed a whopping 94.6% of viewership. ICC also reported that its OTT platforms and its social media channels recorded a huge viewership for the match as well.

India’s hockey team has defeated New Zealand by 3-2, making a place for their team in Toyko Olympics’ next match. Tim Southee Auctions Jersey To Raise Funds For 8-Year-Old's Cancer Treatment

New Zealand pacer Tim Southee on June 29, announced to auction his jersey from World Test Championship finale. The action aims at raising funds for an eight-year-old Hollie Beattie, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma since 2018. Southee made the announcement through his Instagram, and said that the shirt will carry signatures of New Zealand’s WTC winning squad.

WTC Finals Winner To Receive USD 1.6 Million, Test Mace: ICC

International Cricket Council on June 14 announced that the winner of the World Test Championship finals will receive USD 1.6 million along with the Championship Mace. However, the runner-ups team will get USD 800,000. "In case the final ends in a draw or a tie, the finalists will split the prize money for the first and second places and share possession of the Mace," said the ICC.
