India Reports 2.3 Lakh Fresh COVID-19 Cases, 310 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

The Health and Women Welfare Ministry, on January 18, said that India reported 2,38,018 new Covid-19 cases, 1,57,421 recoveries, and 310 deaths in the last 24 hours, 20,071 fewer cases than on January 17. India's Omicron tally has climbed to 8,891. Notably, the current recovery rate is 94.09% and daily positivity rate in the country stands at 14.43%. Moreover, as of now, India has administered 158.04 crore vaccine doses.

India Reports 2.5 Lakh Fresh COVID-19 Cases; Recovery Rate Stands At 94.27

The Health and Women Welfare Ministry, on January 17, said that India reported 2,58,089 new COVID-19 cases, 1,51,740 recoveries, and 385 deaths in the last 24 hours. India's Omicron tally has climbed to 8,209, increasing by 6.02% since January 16. Notably, the current recovery rate is 94.27% and daily positivity rate in the country stands at 19.65%. Moreover, as of now, India has administered 157.20 crore vaccine doses to people.

2.71 Lakh Fresh COVID Cases In India; Recovery Rate Stands At 94.51%

The Health and Women Welfare Ministry, on January 15 said that India reported 2,71,202 new COVID-19 cases, 1,38,331 recoveries, and 314 deaths in the last 24 hours. However, 2,369 fresh cases have been reported on January 16. Notably, the current recovery rate is 94.51% and daily positivity rate in the country stands at 16.28%. Moreover, as of now India has administered 156.76 Crore vaccine doses to people.

Omicron Variant Less Severe Even For Unvaccinated: South African Study

A South African study claimed that even unvaccinated people infected by the Omicron variant will not require hospital care. The study, led by the NICD, compared 11,600 patients from the first three COVID-19 waves with 5,100 patients from the new Omicron wave and found that there will be no severe illness. "Approximately 25% reduced risk of severe, hospitalization or death compared to Delta," the study said.

COVID-19: Omicron Cases Reach To 528 In Kerala

Kerala has confirmed 48 new Omicron variant cases on January 15, taking the total infected to 528. The Health Minister Veena George said that out of the 48 cases, 33 came from low-risk countries, two of high-risk nations while nine contracted the disease from their family & four people from other states. However, of the total 528 people, 365 came from low-risk countries, while 92 arrived from high-risk nations.

India Reports 2.68 Lakh Fresh Cases, Daily Positivity Rate Stands At 16.66%

The Union Ministry of Health said that India reported 2,68,833 new COVID-19 cases, 1,22,684 recoveries, and 402 deaths in the last 24 hours, on January 15, which is 4,631 cases more than January 14. In the last 24 hours 16,13,740 tests were conducted. Meanwhile, India's Omicron tally has climbed to 6,041. The daily positivity rate in the country stands at 16.66%. India has administered 156.02 crore vaccine doses to people.

Kerala Reports 16,338 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, Active Case Tally At 76,819

Kerala reported 16,338 fresh COVID-19 cases, on January 14. The new cases were confirmed after conducting 68,971 COVID-19 test. Besides fresh cases, Kerala confirmed 20 deaths taking the rally to 50,568 deaths and 3,848 recoveries. With the continuous surge in Coronavirus cases, the State has 76,819 active cases. Notably, Kerala is one of the top five states with the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

Observe COVID-19 SOPs in J&K Hospitals:DHSK

Kashmir Health Services Director has asked all the concerned officers to implement COVID-19 SOPs properly in all healthcare institutions. The order was issued in view of the recent COVID-19 surge in the country & detection of some Omicron cases in J&K. As per the order, they will ensure that no patient/attendant is allowed to enter hospital without RT-PCR testing, & masks are put on face by them properly.

Kerala Schools Likely To Be Closed Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases

Amid rising cases of Covid-19, the Kerala state government is likely to announce the closing of state government schools on January 14. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will review the COVID situation and chair a meeting on the closing of schools. After reviewing the situation, CM will take the final decision, said Minister V Sivankutty. Meanwhile, on January 13, 59 fresh Omicron cases were reported taking the Omicron tally to 480.
