Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh Among Congress' Star Campaigners: UP Polls
Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, Congress has released a list of 30-star campaigners for the first phase on January 24. Among the star campaigners are party chief Sonia Gandhi, former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot, a few G-23 leaders, former JNU student Kanhaiya Kumar, and other leaders. Meanwhile, brief meetings and door-to-door campaigns will be held by senior leaders.

Priyanka Gandhi Hints To Be Congress CM Face In UP
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on January 21, hinted to be the "CM face" of the party in Uttar Pradesh. During the manifesto release for the UP Assembly elections, Gandhi said, "Do you see any other face?" She further added, "You can see my face everywhere". Her statement created speculations, however an official announcement for the CM face is awaited. Notably, Congres lost 2017 UP elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Congress GS Priyanka Gandhi Releases 1st List Of 125 MLA Candidates: UP Assembly Polls
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on January 13, released the first list of 125 MLA candidates for the UP Assembly polls. Of total, 50 candidates are women including Unno Rape victim's mother Asha Singh. "By fielding 40% women and 40% youths in UP, we hope to start a new kind of politics in the State," said Gandhi. UP Assembly elections will be held in seven phases, starting from February 10.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Postpones Press Conference Ahead Of Assembly Polls
Ahead of Assembly polls, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has postponed her press conference which was scheduled for January 12. Priyanka was going to address the press conferences via video conferencing. The Election Commission on January 8, announced the election dates for five states from February 10. Reportedly, the counting of votes will be held on March 10. The model code of conduct has come into force.

Congress Flag Falls Off Flagpole While Sonia Gandhi Tried To Unfurl It
On the occasion of the Congress party's 137th foundation day event at the AICCI headquarters in Delhi, while party president Sonia Gandhi was unfurling the party's tricolour flag, it fell of the flagpole. Party treasurer Pawan Bansal and AICCI general secretary KC Venugopal held the flag with their hands for a while. After the flag was fixed, the hoisting ceremony was repeated after 20 minutes.
