Earthquake Of Magnitude 4.2 Jolts Mizoram's Champhai

In Mizoram's Champhai, an earthquake measuring magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale struck on December 17 at 1:43 AM, according to the National Center for Seismology (NSC). The quake occurred at a depth of 60 km from the surface. It was located 56 km Southeast of Champhai, reported ANI. However, there are no reports of death and damage to property so far.

Earthquake Magnitude Of 5.6 Strikes Indonesia's Maluku

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said that an earthquake magnitude of 5.6 struck in the eastern province of Maluku on December 16. The epicenter of the quake was recorded at 163 km southwest of Maluku Barat Daya district, as per UNI. The depth of the quake is said to be 26 km under seabed. So far, any death and damage to property haven't been reported.

Earthquake Of 6.1 Magnitude Strikes Southern Philippines

The Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 hit the southern Philippines' Davao Occidental province on December 5 at 7:48 AM. Reportedly, the epicentre of the earthquake was about 285 km southeast of Sarangani island and occurred at a depth of 156 km from the surface. However, no reports of death and damage to property have been reported so far.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 4.4 Hits Ukhrul: Manipur

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale hit Manipur's Ukhrul district on November 7, as per National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Reportedly, tremors were felt in the range of 70 kilometres in the district at 7:48 am. Moreover, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale hit southeast of Portblair on November 8, at 5:28 am, as per reports.

Earthquake Of 4.6 Magnitude Hits Chamoli District: Uttarakhand

Earthquake hits Joshimath city in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand on Sept 11 at around 5:58 AM. The city was hit with a magnitude of 4.6 on Richter's scale, at a depth of 5km. According to the National Center of Seismology's report, the epicenter of the quake was located 31km southwest of Joshimath. However, India, Nepal & China were among the affected countries.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 3.4 Jolts Manipur's Bishnupur

In Manipur's Bishnupur district, an earthquake of magnitude 3.4 on the Richter scale strikes on the late evening of August 6, said National Center for Seismology. Reportedly, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 28 km and 20 km west-southwest of Bishnupur. However, no reports of casualties were reported so far. Earlier on August 2, a similar quake magnitude of 3.7 had hit Manipur's Moirang area.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 2.1 Jolts Delhi; No Casualties Reported

An earthquake of low intensity was reported in Delhi on June 20 at 12:02 pm. According to the National Centre of Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake measuring the intensity of 2.1 on the Richter scale was Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area. The quake hit at a depth of 7 km from the surface. Besides, there is no immediate report of any damage to life or property.

Mild Earthquake Rattles Uttarakhand's Chamoli, No Casualties Reported

The Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district along with adjacent areas faced a minor earthquake on May 24 at 12:01AM. The district administration informed that measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, the epicenter was reported to be near Joshimath at depth of 22 kilometers. 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Bandar Ganaveh City Of Southwest Iran

Bandar Ganaveh in Iran witnessed an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on Richter scale on April 18, said the US Geological Survey. Although it did not entail any damage or injuries so far, the earthquake itself was shallow and had its epicenter around 100 kilometers away from Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Notably, located on major seismic faults, Iran faces frequent earthquakes averaging to at least one earthquake every day.

Earthquake in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Jolted Nicobar Islands

On September 6 early morning, the Nicobar Islands were jolted by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) informed that the focus of the earthquake was 82 kilometres below the surface. The Andaman and Nicobar islands are regarded as seismically active regions and, hence, are categorized in Zone V.
