Tesla Requests Modi To Reduce Import Tax On Electric Vehicles

Tesla is set to enter the Indian markets, but before that, the company has requested PM Narendra Modi to reduce the import taxes on electric cars. Reportedly, a meeting was held between officials on the same issue, last month. Furthermore, the company has also urged for a meeting between Elon Musk and Modi. Besides, India levies 60% import duty on electric vehicles.

Tesla Shouldn't Sell Made In China EVs In India, Says Nitin Gadkari

While speaking at a media Conclave, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on October 8 said he has asked Tesla ''don't sell electric cars in India'' which is manufactured in China by it. However, he also said the government would provide all the support if Tesla would manufacture its iconic electric vehicles in India. Besides, Gadkari informed everyone we are considering Tesla's demand for a reduction in taxes.

Tesla Headquarters Will Be Relocated From California To Texas: Elon Musk

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said on October 7 that the electric automaker wants to relocate its headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin, Texas, where it is constructing a huge vehicle and battery production facility. The plant in Fremont, California is "jammed," and is difficult for people to buy homes in California, Musk stated. It intends to broaden production by 50% at its main California and Nevada factories.

US Jury Imposes Fine To Tesla Over Employee Racial Harassment

Owing to the racial harassment, a US federal jury on October 4 has ordered Tesla Inc. to pay more than $130 million as compensation to Owen Diaz, a Black former employee. Reportedly, the jury found that the employee worked in a racially hostile atmosphere. However, according to the verdict, Tesla failed to take adequate precautions in order to protect Diaz from being harassed due to racism.

Tesla Passes Homologation Stage For Its Four Vehicles In India

Motor giant Tesla has managed to meet all the specified criteria to launch its vehicle in India. According to the report, four vehicles have been approved, Model 3 & Model Y have been witnessed taking trials on Indian roads. However, the launch date is not finalized as the negotiations on import duties are yet to be done with the government. Currently, India charges a 100% import duty on EVs.

Tesla's Car Hit Two Vehicle In US Despite Autopilot Mode

In the USA Orlando, a Tesla car running on autopilot mode, sitting a 27-old-man driver, narrowly hit the police patrol car while the officer was helping a driver of a disabled vehicle and also rammed into the other vehicle on August 28. Reportedly, the officer got unhurt while both the drivers received minor injuries. However, Tesla didn't issue any statement on the failure of the system.
