Google, YouTube, Facebook Pledge To Follow New IT Rules

Tech giants Google and its platform YouTube have agreed to comply with India’s new IT rules after a threat of criminal action lingered over them. Google officially stated that they were working to "ensure that we're combating illegal content in effective and fair way". The development has taken place after Facebook pledged to meet the requirements. However, Twitter and WhatsApp have not issued any statement yet.

BTS' Butter Song Tops Charts; Clocks 113 Mn YouTube Views In 24 Hours

South Korean K-Pop band BTS’ new song ‘Butter’ released on May 21 garnered 113 million views in 24 hours on YouTube. Crushing all records, as per the latest numbers on YouTube, the song clocked 128 million views. Notably, their earlier song ‘Dynamite’ had received 110 million views in 24 hours. The boy band will perform the song for the first time on Billboard Music Awards 2021 on May 23.

12-Yr-Old Dies While Straightening Hair With Kerosene, Matchstick

A 12-year-old boy in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram died of burn injuries after he applied kerosene oil to his hair and attempted to straighten them using a lit matchstick. As per sources, the boy named Sivanarayanan was imitating a DIY (Do It Yourself) YouTube video in his bathroom and was alone with her grandmother when the incident happened. Rushed to the hospital, the social media addict was declared dead by doctors.

Android Users Can Now Watch 4K HDR Resolution Videos On YouTube

Android users from now on would be able to watch YouTube videos in 4K resolution. The online video-sharing platform rolled a new update on February 18 for its 16.06.34 app version. Earlier, Android devices supported only a maximum resolution of 1440p which has increased to 2160p (4K) HDR after the recent update. Currently, YouTube is eyeing to enhance the user experience by bringing a modernised interface for tablets.

BTS Becomes First Korean Boy Band To Cross 1.2 Billion YouTube Views

Korean pop band BTS has become the country's first boy band to cross one-billion views mark on YouTube. The seven-member band achieved the feat with the title track, 'DNA', from their mini-album 'Love Yourself: Her'. Reportedly, the only other Korean artists breaching the billion mark are all-female band BLACKPINK and solo artist PSY (Gangnam Style). Currently, BTS is preparing for the release of 'BE: Essential Edition' on February 19.
