International Youth Day: To Recognize World's Youth Efforts Globally
International Youth Day is commemorated on August 12 every year. It was first started in the year 1999 after the recommendation by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for youth in Lisbon was passed by the UN General Assembly. The day is marked for giving new initiatives and action taken by the youth. This is the day when communities unite and increase awareness of youth's culture and address legal issues.
“Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation For Human and Planetary Health” has been chosen as this year’s theme by the UN. The theme concentrates on "inclusive support mechanisms that ensure youth continue to amplify efforts collectively and individually to restore the planet and protect life while integrating biodiversity in the transformation of food systems." To dissipate the third-world countries' issues, International Youth Day provides a platform for discussing core issues and coming with relevant solutions.
