1000 Tons of Oil Leaked Into Indian Ocean; Experts Fear Ecological Crisis
The Japanese carrier which ran onto a coral reef off Mauritius on July 25, is feared to have set-off a major ecological crisis. At least 1000 tons of oil is said to have been leaked into the Indian Ocean. Reportedly, the carrier had passed through the annual inspection in Japan. "The ship has now stopped leaking oil, but the nation must brace itself for worst case scenario," said Mauritius PM.
