20 Million Girls May Dropout of School, Post-COVID: Malala Yousafzai

Nobel-Laureate Malala Yousafzai, at UN General Assembly, said that over 20 million girls may be forced to dropout of schools due to Covid-19. She cited the pandemic as a setback in achieving long-term goals like girls’ education. Talking about the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015, Malala questioned the body regarding the efforts that lag behind in achieving them. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, further stressed the need for immediate action.
