Oxford Changes The Meaning Of 'Woman' After Activists Term It 'Sexist'
The Oxford English Dictionary has changed the meaning of the word 'woman' from “a man’s wife, girlfriend or lover” to " a person’s wife, girlfriend, or female lover.” The decision was taken after a campaign was started a year ago by campaigner Maria Beatrice Giovanardi. According to Ms. Giovanardi, the meaning was 'sexist.' An online petition was also made to remove the synonyms like 'bitch', which is not done yet.
