Punjab Becomes 9th State To Withdraw General Consent To CBI Probes
Punjab has become the ninth state government to withdraw the general consent given to the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct probes in its territory. The state government announced this decision on November 9. With this, the federal investigating agency will need to obtain prior permission from the government to conduct any probe in the state. Earlier, the agency could instigate any probe without the prior consent.
