Delhi Government Dismisses Police's Request To Detain Farmers In Stadiums
The Delhi government, rejecting the request of the police, refused to lend nine stadiums to be converted into jails for protesting farmers marching into Delhi from Punjab and Haryana. Terming the farmers' demand "legitimate", Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain said, "This protest is non-violent. A non-violent protest is every Indian's right, so Delhi government has refused Delhi police's request." Several Aam Aadmi Party leaders objected the police's request with some calling it "inhumane".
