SC Orders Installation Of CCTVs At Police Stations, Investigating Agencies
In order to prevent custodial torture, all law enforcement agencies of the Centre, including the CBI and NIA, and the states are instructed to install CCTV cameras. The Supreme Court-pronounced order mandated that the CCTVs must be capable to 'capture audio' and 'record footage in the dark', while the recorded data must be available for at least 12 months. The court also asked to set up human rights courts in every district.
