All Good Cholesterol Cannot Be Deemed Healthy, Suggests Study
Contrary to conventional beliefs, not all HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) or good cholesterols are healthy, revealed a study. The study suggested that a positive causal relationship exists between the size of HDL cholesterol particles and heart attack probabilities. While large-good cholesterol particles directly incite heart attacks, the small ones generate lower risks. Hence, experts suggest to increase the number of smaller particles in HDL as it inhibit its accumulation in arteries, countering cardiovascular disease.
