'Vehicle Scrappage' Policy to be Rolled Out by September End: Nitin Gadkari
Road Transport Ministry will presumably instigate the 'vehicle scrappage' policy by September end. The policy prompts old and polluting vehicles' scrapping in lieu of incentives, and setting up recycling clusters to cut costs. Minister Nitin Gadkari stated, "it is important for revival of auto industry." He opined India can become auto manufacturing hub in coming five years. Government also plans to increase import duties to reduce import dependency, he added.
