Lucknow Court Sentences Gangster Abu Salem & Parvez Alam To 3-Years Imprisonment In Fake Passport Case
Gangster Abu Salem and his associate Mohammed Parvez Alam to three years in jail by a special court in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on September 28, for alleged connection to a fake passport case. This has come following a case registered by the CBI in 1997. According to the complaint, following the 1993 Bombay bomb blast, Salem obtained a passport fraudulently with a view the flee the country.

SC Recalls Centre's Promise, Says Bound To Release 1993 Bomb Blast Accused Salem
The Supreme Court said the Centre is bound to honour its commitment given to Portugal and release gangster Abu Salem on completion of his 25-year sentence in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Notably, the Indian Government gave a solemn assurance to Portugal, which asked for the extradition of Salem in 2002. The necessary papers be forwarded within a month of completion of 25 years, said SC bench.
