Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the fully functional All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur, on October 5. The AIIMS -- whose foundational stone was also laid by the prime minister in October 2017 -- has been established under the Central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. AIIMS Bilaspur, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1,470 crore, is a state-of-the-art hospital.

Dr M Srinivas, the newly appointed director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) released an official memorandum, warning of serious consequences to those performing functions not mentioned in the tender. An app is being developed by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for eye patients that provides information about admission, transplantation and post-surgery follow up. Through the app, a patient can book an appointment, and schedule admission or eye transplantation. The app is also useful to stay connected with the hospital, which helps in easy analysis of the patient following a surgery.

In a tragic incident, seven people were killed as an Ambulance collided with a truck, in UP's Fatehganj Paschim, on May 31. The driver, suspected to have dozed off, lost control and rammed into a divider, which resulted in the Ambulance coming onto the other side of the road and hitting the truck. Kurshid (55) was taking his wife Sagiran (52) for treatment in the ambulance, when the tragedy occurred. 

Following a major health issue, former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav has been shifted to AIIMS Delhi. Notably, he was being treated at RIMS in Jharkhand, but due to kidney and heart related issues, Yadav's health condition worsened, and he was referred to AIIMS in Delhi. Notably, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment and Rs 60 lakh fine in a money laundering case.
