Central Govt Increases Dearness Allowance From 17% To 28%

The central government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners from 17% to 28%. The change will come into effective from July 1, 2021. Notably, the revision has come for 5 million employees and 6.5 million pensioners before the forthcoming festival season. Earlier, the government had increased the DA in 2020 from 17% to 21%, but it was not implemented due to COVID-19.

No Rs 2000 Note Printed In 2 Years, Says Anurag Thakur In Lok Sabha

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has confirmed the government has not printed any Rs 2000 note in the last two years. Anurag Thakur Denies Any Govt Plans To Impose New Tax On Petrol, Diesel

Minister Anurag Thakur on March 9 stated that the Centre has no plans of imposing any new taxes on diesel and petrol. Earlier during Budget 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced agricultural tax at Rs 2.5 and Rs 4 on petrol and diesel respectively. Moreover, answering to question on the inclusion of petroleum products in the GST ambit, Thakur said, inclusion “will require the recommendation of the GST Council."
