Hero Motocorp Manufacturing Units To Remain Shut Till May 16

India’s leading two-wheeler company Hero MotoCorp has announced the extension of its manufacturing shutdown till May 16. Hero in its statement said the decision has been taken "in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation across the country." The company aims at scaling up the production when the condition betters in the nation. The shutdown was earlier announced on April 22 which was to end on May 9.

Mahindra & Mahindra Plans To Up Prices Of Its Models By Up To 3%

Veejay Nakra, the chief executive of Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed that the company is planning to hike the prices of cars by 1.8% to 3%. "We will keep a close watch on how the commodity prices play out" Nakra stated hinting the hike possibly due to increased cost of raw materials including that of steel. Notably, earlier in April also, Mahindra had increased the prices by 1.8%.

Skoda Defers Launch Of New Gen Octavia Due To Lockdown In Maharashtra

European automaker Skoda has deferred the launch of its new generation Skoda Octavia owing to the degrading COVID-19 situations in Maharashtra. Reportedly, the launch, earlier scheduled in 2020, was rescheduled to April 2021 and now has been postponed for indefinitely until the condition in the state gets improved. Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be one of the worst COVID-affected states in the country.

Nitin Gadkari Projects India To Be No 1 EV Manufacturer In World

Virtually addressing Amazon's Smbhav Summit, Union Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari said that in few years India will become the foremost manufacturer of Electronic Vehicles. The minister also said that the government is working on hydrogen fuel cell technology to end the use of fossil fuels. Estimating manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries in India over next six months, Gadkari said cost of EVs will come down in next two years.

Hyundai Doubles March Month Sales; Creta, Nios, Venue Among Top Sold

Hyundai Motors on April 1 revealed that the company had doubled its sales in March sales as compared to March 2020 figures. While March 2020 sales clocked 32,379 units, Hyundai sold 64,621 units in 2021. The company claimed increased sales of models Creta, Venue, Verna, Nios and new i-20 behind the record. Taking the sales leads, while 12,640 units of Creta were sold, Nios followed the next with 11,020 units.

MG Motor Donates 5 Retrofitted Ambulances To Nagpur Hospital

MG Motors India donated five retrofitted ambulances as part of its SEWA initiative in Maharashtra's Nagpur on March 2. The ambulances donated to Nangia Speciality Hospital are equipped with auto-loading stretchers and ventilator. Earlier under the SEWA initiative, the company had donated ambulances to GMERS hospital in Vadodara during the COVID-19 crisis. Reportedly, the Hector ambulances are customised at its plant in Gujarat.
