Bihar: EC Reduces Notice Period For Registration of Political Parties
The Election Commission has decided to bring down the notice period for registration of political parties in Bihar. Reportedly, the period has been reduced from 30 days to 7 days, applicable only till October 20. The EC said that the decision was taken considering that “there was dislocation and delay in moving applications for registration,” owing to the pandemic. Elections in Bihar are scheduled to be held from October 28.

Senior BJP leader Usha Vidhyarthi has switched to Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) from BJP in Delhi on October 7 in the presence of LJP chief Chirag Paswan. “To take Bihar forward some strong decisions needed to be taken. Bihar: LJP Leader Chirag Paswan Asks People Not To Vote For JD(U)
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan has requested voters of Bihar not to vote for Janata Dal (United). He said that BJP and LJP will form a coalition government in the state after the elections. A day after leaving the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Paswan said that LJP MLAs will work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bihar: Former RJD Leader Shakti Malik Shot Dead At His Residence
Former Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Shakti Malik was shot dead on October 4 at his residence in Bihar's Purnia district. According to police, three men allegedly entered the victim's home early in the morning and shot bullets in Shakti's head. The deceased's wife claimed the murder was politically motivated as he wanted to contest election. JD(U) accused RJD for the incident as Shakti had previously locked horns with Tejashwi Yadav.
