The Congress took strong objections to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's remarks in the Lok Sabha and demanded his suspension from the House. Terming the remarks as an insult to all MPs, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the apology offered by Union Minister Rajnath Singh was a mere eyewash and not sufficient. Strict action should be taken against him, he demanded on September 22.

Sonia Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) will open the debate in the Lok Sabha session and will discuss the Women's Reservation Bill. Notably, the Congress is raising claims that tabled by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and the BJP Government, the idea was of Congress. The bill which is yet to be approved and pass will provide 33% reservation to women in politics.

In a massive development, The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc of opposition parties on Thursday decided to boycott four TV news channels and 14 TV news anchors. The leaders have come up with the decision over their alleged provocative and communal debate, misleading nation from the real matters and issues, making things communal. The Congress on September 11, constituted election committees for Chhattisgarh assembly polls, with Kumari Selja appointed convener of the Core Committee and Charan Dass Mahant chairperson of the Election Campaign Committee. Twelve US members of Congress have written to the US Department of Justice (DOJ), urging to issue criminal summons to Dow Chemical Company in connection with the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. The letter signed by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Pramila Jayapal, and Congressman Frank Pallone Jr, asked that the Dow Chemical Company — the key accused in the tragedy — respond to India’s repeated summons to appear in court.
