Delhi's 100% Eligible Population Are 1st Dose Vaccinated: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, on December 24, confirmed that 100% eligible people received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal said, "Delhi completes first dose to 100 percent eligible people 148.33 lakhs. Salute to doctors, ANMs, doctors, teachers, ASHAs, CDVs and all other frontline workers". Meanwhile, a total of 1.22 lakh people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 infection in Delhi.

Delhi Bans New Year & Christmas Gathering Amid Omicron Scare

Amid rising number of COVID-19's new variant Omicron cases in Delhi, the Arvind Kejriwal government banned new year's and Christmas gathering. On December 22, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority released a notice, banning public gathering until new year's. The DDMA directed all the district officials and collectors that everyone abide by rules, imposes. Meanwhile, so far, Delhi reported a total of 57 Omicron cases.

Delhi Govt Declares Ranveer Singh Starrer '83' Tax-free

Delhi government declared the Bollywood movie ''83'' tax-free in the union territory, on December 21. The movie directed by Kabir Khan is based on India's historical 1983 cricket World Cup win. It stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Kapil Dev. His real wife Deepika Padukone played the role of Kapil Dev's wife. It's scheduled to release on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Delhi Schools To Resume Classes From Dec 18

The Delhi Commission of Air Quality Management, on December 17, allowed schools to resume offline classes, in a phased manner. The decision came after the commission submitted a report to the Apex Court, about the steps taken to control air pollution in Delhi-NCR. Considering the better situation and green signal of the AQI commission, the Delhi Government announced resumption of classes 6 and above from December 18.

Delhi's AQI Shows Improvement; Still In 'Poor' Category: SAFAR

Delhi's air quality index (AQI) improved from "very poor category" to "poor category", on December 8. The overall AQI of the national capital was 235, reported System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Reportedly, the measures to combat air pollution in Delhi are in effect, resulting in lower AQI. Furthermore, the AQI of Delhi is likely to improve in a couple of days, predicted IMD.

15 Suspected Omicron Patients Admitted To LNJP Hospital: Delhi

About 15 suspected patients of Omicron who flew into the national capital from "at risk" countries are now admitted to Delhi's LNJP Hospital. Out of these, nine are confirmed Covid-19 patients, while six have mild symptoms. The samples have been sent for genome sequencing and the report will take four-five days. Medical Director of LNJP Hospital, Dr. Suresh Kumar said, "the three new patients are from the UK".

Delhi Govt Reduces VAT On Petrol, New Prices Less By Rs 8

The Delhi Government reduced VAT from 30% (Rs 23.99) to 19.4 % (Rs 15.25 ), resulting reduction in petrol prices. The step was a relief to Delhi citizens, who will get 1 litre petrol for Rs 95.50 from the previous Rs 103.97, reduced by Rs 8. Reportedly, fuels prices may go down further as the international crude prices have been reduced by over 10% in the last few days.

Delhi Govt Starts Offering Free Train Service To Ayodhya Pilgrims

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced that his government has added Ayodhya to the list of free pilgrimage scheme called 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana' on November 24. The first train under the scheme will leave from Delhi on December 3. ''We'll also add Tamil Nadu's Velankanni Church to our list soon,'' added CM Kejriwal. The online registration for the same has been opened on the Delhi government's e-district portal.

Schools To Remain Shut In The View Of Rising Air Pollution; Delhi Government

Delhi government on November 21 ordered all schools to shut for physical classes until further notice. According to reports, the decision has been made in view of rising air pollution levels in the national capital. Moreover, govt. office employees have been instructed to work from home with 100 percent capacity for a week. Classes to remain conducted online until notice, said Directorate of education, Delhi.

Delhi Government Permits Diesel Vehicles To Be Retrofitted With Electric Kit

Old diesel vehicles can now be modified with electric kits, said Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot. Manufacturers of electric kits will be appointed by the transport department for retrofitting conventional internal combustion engines (ICE).
