Delhi University's First Cut-off To Be Out On October 1

Delhi University released the schedule for the cut-off lists to be announced for the admissions to its various merit-based UnderGraduate courses on September 27. The first list will be declared on October 1, and the admissions will begin from October 4. The colleges will have time till October 7 to approve the applications and the candidates can complete the payment process by October 8.

President Ram Nath Kovind Appoints Prof Yogesh Singh As New VC Of Delhi University

President of India Ramnath Kovind appointed Professor Yogesh Singh as the Vice- Chancellor of University of Delhi, on September 22. Yogesh Singh is an NIT Kurukshetra alumnus and holds an MTech and PhD in computer Science. He was also the Vice- Chancellor at Delhi Technological University and the Director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology.

JNU Resumes For Third-Year Ph.D. Students; COVID Certificate Mandatory

The JNU classes have been resumed for third-year Ph.D. students from September 23, while the final-year students of MSc and MBA or final-year Btech students will resume their offline classes from September 27. However, the students will have to present a negative COVID RT-PCR certificate within 72 hours. Besides, the entry of busses in the campus will be permitted following the COVID protocols.

Delhi University To Kickstart Admission Process; Expected Cut-off Over 100%

Delhi University has released registration forms for UnderGraduate admissions, and the first cut-off is to be out on October 1. Thereafter the admission process will start on October 4. About four lakh students have registered, and the number of students scoring over 95% in CBSE boards alone rose from 35,000 in 2020 to 70,000 in 2021. This can lead to an increase in the already skyrocketing cut-offs.

DU To Introduce 4 Yr UG Courses From 2022: Delhi

Delhi University Academic Council approved a four-year UnderGraduate programme on August 24. These provisions under the New Education Policy will be implemented from next year. Delhi University Preps For Third Wave, Sets Up 400 Covid-19 Beds

Anticipating the repercussions of the COVID-19 third wave, the Delhi University (DU) will set up a COVID-19 facility with 400 beds. The university will also convert one of its campus hostels for an extra 200 beds. DU has obtained 500 pulse oximeters, 100 thermal scanners, and an oxygen plant that can fill 50-80 cylinders per day. Janki Devi Memorial College and Hansraj College have also offered their infrastructure to set up beds.

CUCET Receives Backlash, Students Plead to Delhi University

Students aspiring to join Delhi University assembled on Telegram pleading against the common entrance exam as Delhi University took the decision of becoming a part of the Central University Common Entrance Test. Students resisted the change as it reduced their options of changing their stream and not having enough preparation time. The Union Education Ministry is expected to a take decision on CUCET, in the coming week.

100% Fee Exemption For DU Students Who Lost Parents To COVID-19

The Delhi University on June 4 announced 100% fee waiver for students who lost either one or both of their parents in the first and second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, the colleges will also exempt them from charging examination fees. As per reports, the university has ordered the affiliated colleges to prepare a list of such students who would only have to produce a death certificate of their parents.

DU Plans To Modify Admission Process After Class 12 Exam Cancellation

Delhi University Vice-chancellor PC Joshi has announced to modify the admission procedure of the university after the cancellation of class 12 board exams of CBSE and CISCE. Delhi University Researchers Find 8 New Snake Species In Delhi

A five-year study conducted by Delhi University has revealed eight new snake species in the capital, taking the total up to 23. The species found include common bronze back tree snake, common trinket snake, common cat snake, barred wolf snake, common sand boa, saw-scaled viper and common and streaked kukri. The team conducted 376 field surveys in 11 districts recording the details in book 'Fauna of Delhi' maintained since 1997.
