Ban On Alcohol Sale! South Africa Imposes Strict Lockdown For 14-Days

South Africa imposes strict lockdown for 14-days to tackle the COVID-19 Delta variant surge. President Cyril Ramaphosa on June 27, banned all types of social, political and religious gatherings, including the sale of alcohol. Considering lockdown, only 50 people are permitted to attend a funeral. Meanwhile, only take-away or deliveries from the restaurants are allowed. However, the night curfew has been imposed from 9 PM to 4 AM.

Citizens Evacuate City Before Nationwide Lockdown In Bangladesh

A huge number of people in Dhaka have raced to ports in an attempt to leave the city before a nationwide lockdown takes effect. Effective from June 28, a strict nationwide lockdown will be imposed in Bangladesh to combat the surge of the delta variant. According to the rules of lockdown, no one will be allowed to leave their homes unless it is an absolute emergency.

WHO Claims Delta Variant As 'Deadliest'; Found In 85 Countries

WHO’s Covid-19 Weekly Epidemiological Update published on June 22, states that the Delta variant has been found in 85 countries. This strain is allegedly more infectious and is expected to be the most deadly amongst others. The current four “Variant of Concerns” – Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta have been found in all associated regions of WHO. Alpha, Beta, and Gamma have been found in 170, 119, and 71 countries respectively.

WHO Claims Delta Variant As Dangerous, Highly Transmissible

The COVID-19 vaccines are said to be losing it's efficacy against the newly emerged delta variant. Reportedly, the delta variant is a highly transmissible and dangerous variant that was first identified in India. According to WHO experts, if the chain of transmission isn't broken, this could lead to more dangerous evolving variants. Although the current vaccines are effective, if more variants keep emerging it could spell danger.
