COVID Death Count Touches 5 Million; Report

According to a report, diabolical Delta variant has become the main cause of transcending death. The Covid-19 death count has touched 5 million on October 2, putting unvaccinated people in jeopardy. The report stated that 2.5 million deaths were recorded in a year, and the next 2.5 million deaths were recorded in just 236 days. Globally, 8000 deaths have been reported daily (approx), which is five deaths per minute.

15 Sub-Lineages Of Delta Variant Found In Karnataka, Says Experts

Experts cautioned that 15 out of 32 Delta sub-lineages of the Covid-19 virus have been found and are evolving in Karnataka. However, experts discovered a reduction in the number of mutations like AY.4 and AY.12. On the other hand, experts from Genomics Surveillance Committee warned that these reductions could be a sign of a virus transformation. An emerging variant in South Africa C.1.2 is a matter of concern, experts added.

Japan Reports New Mutation In COVID-19 Delta Variant

Amid the menace of the COVID-19 Delta variant, Japan found a new mutation of the virus on August 31. However, it's the first case in the country and the ninth case in the world. The mutation, N501S, was reported in a person who's already infected with the Delta variant, said Professor Hiroaki Takeuchi at Tokyo MDU Hospital. Besides, its impact on transmissibility is yet to be revealed through further study.

Single-Day Covid-19 Vaccine Touches 1 Crore Mark In India

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed that India has recorded a historic figure of one crore Covid jabs administered to the people until the evening of August 27. Covid-19: 30 People Infected With Delta Variant In Nashik

As many as 30 people across Maharashtra's Nashik have been infected with the Delta variant of COVID-19, District Collector Suraj Mandhare said. He also added that the "samples were sent for genome sequencing to Pune, after which all the samples showed positive for the Delta variant". Most of the infected patients have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic, said nodal officer for emergency operation centres, Dr. Anant Pawar.

China Restricts Travel Movement To Combat Delta Variant

Owing to the Delta variant outbreak of Covid-19 in China, the authorities have barred travel and movement as the cases crossed over 500 across 15 provinces and municipalities. Mumbai's Nair Hospital Gets Maiden 'Genome Sequencing Lab'

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey virtually inaugurated Mumbai's first genome sequence laboratory at the Nair hospital to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. The Next-generation Genome Sequence (NGS) is capable of analyzing a large number of samples and give results quickly. "The hospital was set up 100 years ago with the help of philanthropists and today as well, donors have come forward. This is the tradition," Thackrey said.
