Reduce Edible Oil Import & Increase Local Production Of Rice Bran Oil, Says FCI
To reduce the country's dependency on import of edible oils, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has recommended an increase in the local production of rice bran oil. Rice bran oil is one of the healthiest oils for people with a heart condition, said FSSAI. Dinesh Garg, Director of Aarti Extraction Pvt Ltd told ANI, "other oils are expensive and out of reach of common man".

Govt Reduces Import Duty By 5% On Refined Palm Oil
Amid the skyrocketed prices of edible oils in India, the government reduced the basic customs duty on refined palm oil to 12.5% from 17.5%, effective from December 21. This will continue in effect till March 2022, reported PTI. Centre Asks Major Oil Producing States To Reduce Edible Oil Prices
The Department of Food and Public Distribution has asked major oil-producing states to take required measures to ensure the reduction in the prices of edible oils. The directions have been given to eight states, including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The reduction would thereby help in bringing down the food inflation levels, by providing relief to customers if prices reduce by Rs 15 to 20 per kilogram.
