Calling it a challenging decision, Root said the announcement was made after a detailed discussion with family and close ones. He further added that he would continue to represent Three Lions and extend his support to the next elected captain of the team.

Queen Elizabeth II Tests COVID-19 Positive With Mild Symptoms
Queen Elizabeth II, tested positive for COVID-19 on February 20. The 95-year-old has been diagnosed with mild symptoms and is likely to continue working from her residence at Windsor Castle, England. However, a report from palace said, "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines." PM Narendra Modi Congratulates Team India For Winning U-19 World Cup
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian U-19 team on February 6, for winning the U-19 World Cup 2022 in Antigua. The team remained unbeaten in the tournament for the fifth time after beating England by four wickets. Taking to Twitter PM said, "Extremely proud of our young cricketers. They have shown great fortitude through the tournament." Team India shot England out for 189 and chased the target of 190.

World's Oldest Test Cricketer Eileen Ash Passes Away At 110: England
The world's oldest former Test cricketer Eileen Ash of England passed away at the age of 110 on December 4. The right-arm bowler made her Test debut against Australia in 1937 and took retirement in 1949. ''Our sport owes so much to its pioneer and Eileen was one of them,'' said Clare Connor, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Managing Director of Women's cricket.

Durham University in England defended its student union's decision saying the union's idea for the training course to students working in the adult sex work industry will "educate" them about sex work. It also said that the training will help students to learn how to respond if someone discloses about the work. AstraZeneca Sells $2.2 Billion Worth COVID-19 Vaccines: Report
Drugmaker AstraZeneca reported that it sold more than $2.2 billion worth of COVID-19 vaccines in the past nine months. Earlier, the company promised to provide jabs on a not-for-profit basis through the pandemic. However, the company is expecting to progressively transition the vaccine to 'profitability'. Britain Records 42,408 Fresh Covid-19 Cases; Death Rate Drops By 4.4%
Britain reported 42,408 fresh Covid-19 cases, and 195 deaths due to the virus, taking its total death tally to 142,533 on November 11. Furthermore, the death rate decreased by 4.4%, while the infection rate fell by 12% in the past one week. However, over 8,000 patients were reported to be admitted to the hospital, at present. Besides, 79% of people aged 12 and more have been fully vaccinated.
