India To Fund Maldives' Single-largest Infrastructure Project
The Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM) has decided to fund $400 million to Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) after signing a Line of Credit Agreement with the Maldives on October 12. The GMCP, Maldives' single-largest infrastructure project, is a 6.7 Km long bridge that will connect the country's capital Male with Villingili, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi islands. India's Agricultural Exports Increase by 43.4% Compared to 2019
Indian Agricultural sector has recorded a hike in exports with a 43.4% increase in the first-half of fiscal year 2020, compared to that of 2019. Reportedly, the commodities which have seen an increase in exports include, non basmati rice (105%) and wheat (206%). India To Witness 42% Growth In Rice Export This Year
With a drop in exchange rate and dip in performance of other countries, rice export of India could post a 42% growth from last year. As the other rice exporting countries, Thailand and Vietnam, have experienced drought, their capacity to fulfill foreign demand has come down. Consequently, experts have indicated that India, the world's biggest rice exporter, could increase the export volume to 14 million tonnes in 2020.

Onions Stuck In Transit to Bangladesh Allowed to be Exported
Following requests from Bangladesh, India has decided to allow the export of 11,000 tonnes of onions that are in transit to Bangladesh. Bangladesh has expressed "deep concern" over the matter calling it "abrupt". Bangladesh said, according to the understanding between the two countries, it expected India to convey the news in advance. Indian government has imposed a ban on export of onions with immediate effect from September 14.
