Protesting Farmers At Delhi Border Burn Copies Of Farm Laws On Lohri

On the occasion of Lohri, a popular harvest festival in Punjab, the protesting farmers at the Delhi border burnt copies of the Centre's farm laws. The farmer associations had also printed and distributed lakhs of copies of the contentious laws across villages and districts of Punjab and Haryana. A protestor at Singhu border said, “By doing this, we want to exert pressure on the Centre to take back these farm laws.”

Punjab CM Withdraws Attempt To Murder Charges From Farmer Protestors

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has ordered retraction of 'Attempt to Murder' charge against farm laws protesters on January 6. CM Singh also issued the transfer orders of the Hoshiyarpur SHO, who filed the 'attempt to murder' charge on protestors. Reportedly, the protestors had unloaded a trolley full of cow dung in front of former minister Tikshan Sud's residency. The case is currently being probed by a Special Investigative Team (SIT).

About 1500 Farmers Marching To Delhi Booked By Uttarakhand Police

Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district police have filed an FIR against 1000-1500 unidentified people for allegedly creating disruptions while protesting against the farm laws. Delhi Police Detains Priyanka Gandhi; Rahul Says 'No Democracy'

The Delhi Police have detained Priyanka Gandhi and other Congress leaders who were accompanying Rahul Gandhi to meet President Ram Nath Kovind. Reportedly, the police had allowed Rahul, Gulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Chowdhury to meet President with two crore signatures against the contentious farm laws. Supreme Court Advises Govt To Halt Farm Laws' Implementation

6 Farmer Leaders Fined Rs 50 Lakh For Misleading Farmers In UP

Six farmer leaders of Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district have been punished with Rs 50 lakh in bonds each, for misleading local farmers on the farm laws. The leaders, who have been booked under section 111 of CrPC include Bharatiya Kisan Union's (Asli) Rajpal Singh along with other leaders Jaiveer and Satyendra. However, one of the farmer leaders claimed the charges as 'harassment' and stated, "We all are peacefully holding protests".
