Lewis Hamilton Bags Record-extending 93rd Formula-1 Win

Lewis Hamilton won the 'Emila Romagna Grand Prix' On 1 November and bagged his 93rd Formula One win. Hamilton edged ahead of his Mercedes colleague Valtteri Bottas by 5.7 seconds. Hamilton had a slow start and was finding it hard to take over Max Verstappen for 11 laps, but later regained his form. Renault's Daniel Ricciardo grabbed the third position. Hamilton has already broken Schumacher's record of total wins (91).

Jeddah To Host Saudi Arabia's First Ever Grand Prix

Saudi Arabia is planning to host the country's first-ever Formula One Grand Prix in the year 2021. The race is set to be held in the streets of Jeddah. The authorities have come up with a draft calendar for 2021. Though nothing is finalised yet, speculations suggest that Saudi could be paired with round in Abu Dhabi. The Grand Prix might act as a factor to erase the country's record on human rights.

Hamilton Wins Portuguese Grand Prix; Breaks Schumacher's 91-Title Record

Six-time world champion Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton won the Portuguese Grand Prix on October 26. The victory, which is Hamilton's 92nd win, made him surpass Michael Schumacher’s record. The British rider drove teammate Valtteri Bottas to second place with a 25.592-second lead and also scored a bonus point for the fastest lap. “You are re-writing the history books,” Mercedes told Hamilton.

Formula One Cancels Vietnamese Grand Prix Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases

The Formula One organizers on October 16 announced the cancellation of the Vietnamese Grand Prix 2020. The authorities cited increasing COVID-19 cases as a reason behind the decision. The first-ever Grand Prix in Vietnam was earlier scheduled to be conducted on the streets of Hanoi in April and later was postponed to July. With the cancellation of Vietnamese Grand Prix, 13 races stand cancelled in the 2020 Formula One calendar.

Lewis Hamilton registers 91st win to equal Michael Schumacher's F1 record

Lewis Hamilton equalled Michael Schumacher's all-time record of 91 Formula-One wins on October 11. Hamilton led the group while Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second at the Eifel Grand Prix, Nurburgring. Mick Schumacher, the son of Michael Schumacher presented Hamilton with one of his Mercedes race helmets. Michael was the lead man for Mercedes till 2011. Later Hamilton replaced German legend went on a winning spree.

Formula One: Honda to Quit At The End of 2021

Red Bull's engine partner, Honda, on October 2, announced their departure from the Formula One races, by the end of 2021. Honda said that the decision was made because of the company's plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to move away from internal combustion engines. The Red Bull team's principal, Christian Horner, said that the decision had presented them withh few challenges but they respected Honda's decision.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas Wins Russian Grand Prix

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas won the Russian Grand Prix on September 27 in Sochi. The Finnish managed to come first after Lewis Hamilton received two penalties for the violation before the race started that placed him third. Red Bull's Max Verstappen secured second posirion. Bottas said, "It is nice to get a win, it's been a while and I need to try and keep the momentum."

F1 Drivers To Remain Dressed in Driving Suits For Post-Race Ceremony: FIA

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) on September 27 announced that Formula 1 drivers should remain dressed in driving suits for post-race ceremonies and interviews. FIA added that suits should be done up to the neck and a medical or team-branded face mask was necessary. The move was initiated after the Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton wore a t-shirt that referred to Breonna Taylor, a black woman shot by the US Police.

FIA Announces Stefano Domenicali As New Formula 1 CEO

Stefano Domenicali has been named as the new Formula 1 CEO and will be taking over from 2021. The veteran will be giving up the chairmanship of Lamborgini. Domenicali is also the President of the FIA single-seater commission and has 30 years of experience in active motorsport. The 55-year-old was the Technical Director and Team Manager at Scuderia Ferrari Team in the early 2000s. He will be replacing former F1 CEO, Chase Carey.
