Allahabad HC Turns Down Lesbian Couple's Plea To Recognise Their Union
The Allahabad High Court has turned down a lesbian couple's plea to recognize their wedding. The couple appeared before the court, and asserted that the Hindu Marriage Act is not against same-sex marriage. On the other hand, the counsel for the UP government insisted that same-sex marriage is not only legally invalid but also against the Indian culture. The court refused to recognize the marriage.
