India Will Produce Over Six COVID-19 Vaccines: Dr Harsh Vardhan
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on March 13 stated that India would be producing over half a dozen more COVID-19 vaccines. Inactivity, Obesity, High BP More Prevalent In Urban Indians: ICMR
The Indian Council of Medical Research, in its national non-communicable disease survey, has indicated that 51.7% urban adults are physically inactive, in contrast to 36.1% rural adults. Among 10,569 people (aged between 18-69 years) surveyed, prevalence of obesity and overweight in urban areas was 11.2% and 42.5% respectively against for rural areas' 3.7% and 18%. 21% Indians Exposed To COVID-19, Medicos Worst Affected: ICMR Survey
The ICMR’s third nationwide serological survey has revealed that over 21% of Indians have contracted COVID-19. Conducted from December 17-January 8, the survey indicated that nearly 80% of the population still remains susceptible to the coronavirus. Masks Work Like Vaccine, Will Stay Even After Vaccination: ICMR Chief

Kerala: Agappe Ltd Launches COVID-19 Kit To Test Patients In 10 Minutes
A Kochi-based medical devices manufacturer will launch a new COVID-19 kit on November 10 that will test patients in just ten minutes and will provide accurate results in an hour. The company, Agappe Diagnostics Ltd, informed that the kit is based on RT-LAMP technology. Reportedly, it is also the first company to receive approval from both the ICMR and the Central Drug Standards Control Organization for RT-LAMP-based COVID-19 testing.

ICMR Develops A Potential Cure For COVID-19
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), on October 1, announced that it has developed a potential drug for curing COVID-19, in collaboration with Biological E Limited. ICMR said that it has prepared a "highly purified antisera", which is supposedly acquired from horses, after infecting them with inactivated Sars-CoV2. ICMR added that the "antisera" will have to undergo clinical trials, to establish safety and efficacy.

Second Sero Survey: 6.6% Prevalence of COVID-19; Higher in Urban Slum-Areas
The second serological survey by Indian Council of Medical Research has stated that around 6.6% of its participants were exposed to COVID-19 in August. However, the ICMR director, said that the number of undetected cases had come down, indicating the success of testing strategy.
