The Income Tax Department asked all taxpayers to file their income tax returns (ITR) before July 31. With the Centre making it clear that it is not contemplating extending the deadline further. "Remember to e-verify after filing”, tweeted the IT Department. However, filing an income tax return is just half the work done, and you need to e-verify your ITR within 30 days of filing.

After a massive search for four days at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai, the Income Tax (IT) department officials said, they found tax irregularities. The Income Tax officials, carried out searches at the premises owned by officials of Hero Motocorp, in various locations of Gurugram, Haryana. The Income-tax department on December 31, conducted a raid at Samajwadi Party MLC Pammi Jain's residence in Uttar Pradesh. "BJP's fear and anger is clear. People are ready to teach a lesson to BJP," tweeted Samajwadi Party. Further details are awaited.
