Under the Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation, residents of Ulwe node have been suffering from water supply shortages since June 24. The Maharashtra Government appointed new Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal. Notably, the term of BMC members came to an end by March 7,  therefore, the Government elected Singh administer the financial functions in the civic area. A very new aspect to be seen, Mumbai got it's first administrator in four decades because of the delay for conducting elections in the past years. 

As per reports, Tamil Nadu State Government has announced Tambaram as a municipal corporation. The announcement came after the approval of Governor RN Ravi on the matter. Furthermore, Tambaram Municipal Corporation has been formed by merging 10 adjacent urban local bodies. Also, an Ordinance was released by the state government to the media. Notably, Tambaram is the 20th Municipal Corporation in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The Odisha government is likely to conduct direct elections for the post of Mayor of Municipal Corporations and Chairperson of Municipalities as it issued a referendum to the public, on August 13. The move to amend the existing rules of 1994 will help the government to decide on the reservation for SC, ST, and OBC candidates in ULB polls. Also, the statute will be called, Odisha Municipal Amendment Rules, 2021.
