New York: Mental Health Experts Not Police To Attend 911 Calls For Distress

Indian-origin Becomes First South Asian To Secure Seat In New York State Assembly

By securing a seat in the New York State Assembly, Indian-origin Jenifer Rajkumar became the first South Asian woman to do so. The 38-year-old won against the Republican Giovanni Perna and will represent 38th Assembly District. She is an immigrants rights advocate and a professor at the City University of New York as well. She will serve the assembly for two years without term limits.

New York's 101 Avenue Co-named As 'Punjab Avenue' To Honour Punjabis 

To honour the services and presence of Punjabi community, the 101 Avenue of New York City has been co-named as 'Punjab Avenue'. Council Member Adrienne Adams, who supported the motion in the New York City Council, inaugurated the new name for the street. Recalling Punjabis' efforts to build the Richmond Hill, Adams stated, "This community has been underserved, not really recognized... Invisible, which is a travesty."

Lionel Messi Agrees Manchester City's €700 Million Deal

Football star Lionel Messi has signed a deal worth 700 Million Euros for five years with the City Football Group (CFG), the Premier League Club's holding company. The 33-year-old is expected to spend the next three seasons at Manchester City before moving to CFG's Major League Soccer franchise New York City Football Club.
