Ramban Tunnel Collapse: Centre Forms Expert Panel, Gives 10 Days Time For Investigation

Centre has formed an expert panel to probe into the Ramban tunnel collapse incident in J&K. The incident occurred on May 19, in which 10 labourers were trapped and killed, and two were seriously injured. The committee has been tasked with submitting a detailed report within 10 days, finding the reasons for such frequent incidents and remedial measures. Reportedly, the panel is headed by IIT professor JT Shahu.

Nitin Gadkari Announces To Construct Rs 10,000 Cr Worth Aurangabad-Pune Expressway

Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari has announced an "access-controlled expressway" project in the state of Maharashtra, on April 25. The Rs 10,000 crore worth project will reportedly connect Aurangabad and Pune, and make the travel between the cities faster. Gadkari said that vehicles can cruise up to a speed of 140 kmph and the travel time will be reduced to 1.15 hours, against the current 4-5 hours.

Union Road & Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari arrived at the parliament in a hydrogen-powered car, on March 30. The action was to  emphasize on the need of renewable electric vehicles, especially when the nation is witnessing a rise in fuel prices. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari blamed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war for the constant rise in oil prices in India. He stated that 80% of oils are imported to India and that the only way to fight the price hike is to make India self-reliant. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on February 28, laid the foundation stone of 26 National Highways in Karnataka worth Rs 12,795 crore. In the presence of state CM Basavaraj Bommai, the 925 km project was inaugurated. "Roads are not just meant for transport connectivity, they supplement economic, cultural, and agricultural growth too," Bommai said. BJP Likely To Release Manifesto On Feb 2: Uttarakhand Elections

Ahead of the Uttarakhand elections, BJP is likely to release its manifesto on February 2, said party sources on January 25. "BJP's manifesto for the Uttarakhand polls is likely to be released on February 2 in the presence of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari," read statement.
