Releasing its winter forecast for December to February period, the India Meteorological Department on November 29 indicated that north India may witness bitter cold this time around. IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra said, “The winter is likely to be harsher in north India this season". Interestingly, while the days are expected to be a little warmer than normal, the nights are expected to be colder than normal.
