Tokyo Olympics 2020: Japan Confirms Event To Be Held As Scheduled This Summer
Amid the concerns raised on cancelling Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Tokyo 2020 chief Seiko Hashimoto confirms that Japan is committed to conducting the games as scheduled this summer. Seiko emphasized that adequate safety precautions will be put in place throughout the tournament. In the latest, Japan has extended the quasi-emergency services to other 10 regions as a precautionary measure ahead of games.

Chennai's Nethra Kumanan Becomes 1st Indian Sailor To Cruise To Olympics
Scripting history, Chennai-based Nethra Kumanan has become the first Indian woman sailor to qualify for the Olympics on April 7. Kumanan, currently having 18 points leads with 21 points over her nearest rival Ramya Saravanan (39 points), who interestingly is also an Indian. The sailor with the least points in the Laser Radial Event wins the competition. The Asian qualifiers are being held in Oman.

SAI Allows Non-residential Athletes To Train At NCOEs
Talented non-residential athletes can now train at the National Centre of Excellence (NCOEs) amid strict COVID-19 rules to protect the bio bubbles made for Olympic-bound sportspersons. Indian Hockey Team To Resume International Stint With Europe Tour
The Indian men's hockey team is all set to restart its international stint post-COVID-19 induced lockdown as they travel to Germany on Feb 21. The 22-member squad will tour Germany and Belgium to ramp up its Olympic readiness. Under the captainship of goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, India will play the hosts in Germany on February 28 and March 2, further competing against Great Britain on March 6 and 8 in Belgium.

Tokyo Olympic CEO Declares Game Cancellation Poll Report Fake
The 2020 Tokyo Olympic organisers have busted a fake poll report which claimed probable cancellation of the games in next month. Denying the reports, the Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto told we were definite about hosting but only with adequate anti-COVID-19 measures. Citing the poll findings, Toshiro stated despite 45% opine of postponing the games, it means that they still want the games to happen which is due in July 2021.

10 IPL Teams From 2022; BCCI Plans To Endorse Cricket In Olympics
India’s cricket control body BCCI, at its Annual General Meeting on December 24, decided to add two new franchises to the current eight-team IPL format from its 2022 season. The BCCI has also decided to back ICC’s move to include cricket in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. It has proposed to conduct a two-Test series for women in 2021 as well. Meanwhile, the BCCI has un-opposedly elected Rajiv Shukla as its vice-president.
