Crane Hits 105-year-old Pamban Railway Bridge; Train Services Halted
Train services were short terminated between Rameswaram and Mandapam stations on October 30 after a crane used for the construction of a new railway bridge hit the existing 105-year-old Pamban bridge. Reportedly, heavy winds and rough sea caused the two floating cranes to hit the bridge. Later, the cranes were towed away and the passengers on the train were transported in buses. Officials informed that there were no major damages.
