Crane Hits 105-year-old Pamban Railway Bridge; Train Services Halted
Train services were short terminated between Rameswaram and Mandapam stations on October 30 after a crane used for the construction of a new railway bridge hit the existing 105-year-old Pamban bridge. Reportedly, heavy winds and rough sea caused the two floating cranes to hit the bridge. Later, the cranes were towed away and the passengers on the train were transported in buses. Officials informed that there were no major damages.

Indian Fishermen Attacked By Sri Lankan Navy Personnel
Tamil Nadu fishermen were recently attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel for allegedly venturing into the latter's waters. The Rameshwaram-based fishermen suffered injuries after the navy personnel attacked them with glass bottles and stones. Reportedly, the personnel also cut the fishing nets, causing huge losses to the fishermen. A similar incident was reported 10 days ago, when fishermen were attacked near Katchatheevu.
