SC Forms Committee To Probe PM Modi's Security Lapse Issue

The Supreme Court formed a panel to probe the PM Modi Security breach issue, on January 12. Headed by former SC Judge Indu Malhotra, the panel include Director General of NIA, Registrar of Haryana and Punjab High Courts and Director General of Security of Punjab. The Apex Court bench led by CJI NV Ramana, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Surya Kant ordered independent probe by the formed committee.

SC Forms Committee, Orders Probe In PM Modi's Security Lapse Issue

The Supreme Court reviewed PM Modi's security breach issue on January 10. During the hearing over recent security lapses on PM Modi's Punjab visit, the SC bench, led by CJI NV Ramana, agreed for a probe and ordered to form a Court-monitored independent committee, headed by former SC Judge to probe the issue. In addition, the Court also asked Central and State Government to dismiss their respective investigations.

SC To Review PM Modi Security Breach Matter On Jan 10

Supreme Court is going to hear the PM Modi Security Breach, plea on January 10. CJI NV Ramana, Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli will review the matter, filed by Lawyer's organisation, over security lapse during PM Modi's Punjab visit. In the last hearing, the Apex Court ordered the registrar of Haryana and Punjab HC to submit records of PM Modi's visit and ordered to halt investigation in the matter.

Viresh Kumar Bhawra Becomes New DGP Of Punjab

Punjab government under the leadership of Charanjit Singh Channi has decided to appoint Senior IPS officer Viresh Kumar Bhawra as the new director general of police of Punjab. Bhawra is an IPS officer of the 1987 batch, reported PTI. He will hold the office for two years from the date of assumption, as per the government's order. He will replace the current DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya.

BJP Delegation Meets Punjab Governor Over PM Modi Security Lapse Issue

Punjab unit BJP delegation met with the State Governor Banwarilal Purohit, over PM Modi security lapse issue, on January 7.  The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor. After the meeting, the Punjab BJP President Arun Sood said, it was "an intentional negligence of the State Government". They also asked the State Governor to order an investigation with strict action against the guilty, responsible for the security lapse.

SC Hears PM Modi Security Lapse Plea, Directs To Halt Investigation

Hearing the PM Modi security lapse issue, the Supreme Court, on January 7, ordered to preserve PM Modi's travel record. The court directed the Registrar General of Punjab and Haryana High Courts, to preserve travel records of PM Modi's Punjab visit. In addition, the Court also asked the Central and the Punjab Government to halt their investigation until January 10. The Court also claimed security lapse "National Security" issue.

SC Likely To Hear Petition On PM Modi Security Lapse Issue On Jan 7

The Supreme Court (SC) likely to hear the plea filed over "PM Modi's security lapse issue" on January 7. Filed for an urgent hearing, the CJI NV Ramana asked the petitioner (NGO) to file a copy of the petition to the Punjab Government. Meanwhile, the petitioner asked the Supreme Court to take action against the Punjab Chief Secretary Anirudh Tewari and DGP Sidharth Chatopaadhyaya, for lapse PM Modi's security.

Punjab CM Refuses Security Lapse After PM Modi's Visit Cancelled

Punjab CM Charanjit Channi refused a "security lapse" on the arrival of PM Modi, as alleged by the Union MHA. On January 5, Channi said, "I was up late night overseeing the arrangements for the rally. 70,000 chairs were put up, but only 700 turned up." He also said that PM Modi's plan to visit Ferozepur via road was made last minute, he was supposed to go by helicopter.

PM Modi's Ferozepur Visit Cancelled Due To Security Lapse: MHA

PM Narendra Modi cancelled his Punjab's Ferozepur visit due to a security lapse, on January 5. The decision came after his convoy was blocked by some protestors on a flyover on his way to the city. The MHA called the State Government responsible for ''major security lapses'' and sought a detailed report. Reportedly, PM Modi was scheduled to launch development projects worth Rs 42,750 crores in Ferozepur.
