RailTel To Setup 'Edge Data Centres' To Boost Digital Economy

RailTel to develop 'edge data centres' at Railway Premises to boost Digital Economy, worth Rs 500 crore. The new initiative will resolve the issue of performance and lower latency as organisations will not have to move the data to far-flung data centres and process it. With this project, rural areas can be served with low latency applications related to digital skills, financial inclusions, digital literacy, etc.

Railways To Roll Out Content On Demand Service From This Month

The Indian Railways will start offering its Content on Demand service from this month. The Railways will install media servers in coaches that will provide buffer-free multilingual content like news, movies and general entertainment. RailTel Corporation Starts Paid Wi-Fi Plans At 4,073 Railway Stations

The RailTel Corporation of India has launched high-speed paid Wi-Fi services at 4,073 railway stations. The pre-paid plan will offer 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi a day at 1 mbps. However, at an extra fee, one can avail higher speed up to 34 mbps. The plans range from Rs 10 for 5GB/day to Rs 60 for 30GB/day, which can be paid online. RailTel expects an annual revenue of Rs 10-15 crore after lockdown is eased.

Railways Start HMIS To Deliver Speedy & Transparent Health Service
