Rajasthan CM Prohibits Sale Of Firecrackers To Reduce Air Pollution

Citing the life-threatening COVID-19 situations, the Rajasthan government on November 2 prohibited the sale of firecrackers and directed to limit their use. The state CM Ashok Gehlot said, "Strict measures have been taken to forbid the distribution of fireworks in the province and limit travel of automobiles having defects." There has been a significant rise in air pollution levels across the northern states of the country.

Rajasthan Govt Plans To Reopen Schools From November 2, Issues SOPs

Rajasthan government officials have stated that the schools for students of classes 10 to 12 are likely to resume from November 2. Reportedly, the State Education Department has already formulated a set of SOPs for the reopening of the schools, and is awaiting a nod from the government. The SOPs have been issued for teachers as well as for students to mitigate the chances of any COVID-19 spread.

Rajasthan: NGT Sends Notice to Authorities Over Endangering GIB Habitat

The National Green Tribunal has slapped notices to Rajasthan government and Environment Ministry on building grid sub-station and transmission lines in Jaisalmer's forests, a habitat to endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB). Alleged of violating Forest Act, 1980 and Biodiversity Act, 2002, the tribunal sought responses from authorities within six weeks. The issue sparked after a GIB died after colliding with power lines.

RSHRC Directs Rajasthan Govt To Curb Use Of Fire-Crackers During Diwali

Saying that further air-pollution will pose a threat to COVID-19 patients, Rajasthan's State Human Rights Commission has instructed the government to curb the use of fire-crackers during Diwali. SC Hears Plea of Disqualification of 6 BSP MLAs
