BJP To Not Contest In Rajya Sabha Bypoll: Suvendu Adhikari
Leader of opposition in West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari on September 20 announced that ''BJP won't nominate any candidate for Rajya Sabha bypoll'' scheduled on October 4. Reportedly, the bypoll was announced after TMC leader Manas Bhuina vacated the seat. Meanwhile, Adhikari also said, ''Our focus is to make sure unelected CM (Mamata Banerjee) to be unelected once again.'' However, TMC said BJP leaders are afraid of loss.

Renaming Orang National Park Is Political Vendetta: Assam Cong MP
As the Assam cabinet under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma decided to remove Rajiv Gandhi's name from Orang National Park, Congress leader Ripun Bora termed the move as ''Political Vendetta'' on September 3. Bora said, ''It reflects a lack of respect to a great leader who sacrificed his life for the country.'' He said the decision pained Assam's people and will derail the state from development's path.

Former TMC MP KD Singh Detained By ED Over Ponzi Scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 13 arrested former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP KD Singh for his alleged involvement in a ₹1,900 crore Ponzi scam. Singh is the founder and current Chairman Emeritus of the Alchemist group. The ED had begun probing into the Alchemist Group money laundering case in 2016. As per reports, the recent arrest was made under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

Twelve opposition parties brought a 'No Confidence Motion' against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Harivansh Singh, on September 20. The motion came after he passed the farm bills in a disputed manner citing that the Deputy Speaker harmed 'democratic traditions and processes'. Trinamool MP Derek O' Brein, tweeted, "They cheated. Baghjan Fire: OIL Loses Rs 148 Crore due to Closure of Nearby Wells
Closure of the Baghjan well in Assam has, reportedly, led to the loss of Rs 148 crore revenue to Oil India Limited. Wells were closed seeing protests by workers' group at other wells. The fire broke out in May after weeks long gas leakage was ignited. Oil minister Pradhan said, "Loss due to gas burning could not be ascertained as no measure was possible due to fire and extreme heat."

25 MPs Test COVID-19 Positive on Day 1 of Monsoon Session of Parliament
The first day of the Parliament's monsoon session witnessed atleast 25 MPs getting tested positive for COVID-19, officials said. Reportedly, 17 MPs from the Lok Sabha and Eight MPs from the Rajya Sabha tested positive in the mandatory RT-PCR tests. However, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal tweeted that he had tested positive at the Parliament's testing centre but negative at a hospital in Jaipur.

Manoj Jha to Contest against Harivansh Singh for Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Post
On September 10, opposition parties unanimously announced RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha as its candidate for Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Elections.
