Disaster Of Himachal Pradesh Is Evident With Hanging Toy Train Tracks

The recent havoc of rainfall in Himachal Pradesh is being a concern for the State Government. At Shimla's Summer Hill, a section of railway tracks hangs in the air after the earth under it was swept away during rainfall and landslide. These tracks are not from just another section in the country's vast railway network, but toy train line between Kalka and Shimla, also a UNESCO World Heritage attraction.

Bus Falls In Gorge, Leaves 14 People Injured: Himachal Pradesh

In Himachal Pradesh's Shimla region, fourteen passengers left severely injured after their bus fell into a gorge, on July 28. Notably, a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus was on its way to Theog from Jarai, skid off the road near Baghar Kenchi and Huli Sub Division Theog, rolling down 50-60 feet below the road, confirmed the State Disaster Management. Furthermore, injured people are being treated at healthcare centres.

3-Storey Building In Shimla Collapses As Storms Hit Himachal Pradesh; No Fatalities Recorded

Three-storey structure in Shimla's Chopal market collapsed as Himachal Pradesh continued to experience severe rain on July 9. There were no fatalities recorded. The building had a UCO Bank branch, Dhaba, bar, and few other firms. The bank was empty as it was the second Saturday of the month. Men at the bar suddenly discovered cracks in window and realized the danger, fled the building, and warned others.

NBT Organises 9-Day Book Fair In Shimla As "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'

The National Book Trust organised a nine-day book fair in Shimla. Starting from June 25, the fair will continue till July 3, as a part of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. Yuvraj Malik, the director of NBT said, the celebration of the book fair will witness over 70 stalls, and participation from 45 publishers, books available in various languages. He further added, he fair is organised to promote reading-culture among youths.

Lt Gen SS Mahal Assume Charges Of Shimla Army Training Command

Lt General SS Mahal assumed charges of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC,) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The appointment was followed by the retirement of Lt Gen Raj Shukla, on March 31. The Additional Director General of Indian Army tweeted, "On assuming command, #ArmyCommander reviewed the Guard of Honour and exhorted all ranks to continue working with zeal and enthusiasm". The ARTRAC started in MP and was later shifted to Shimla.

Famous tourist destinations, Shimla and Manali, in Himachal Pradesh, witnessed snowfall.  After Christmas, tourists have a delighted sight of snowfall in the hilly cities of Himachal Pradesh, making their travel to the region more pretty, but alert has been issue for Lahaul-Spiti road, which is unfit for travel. Furthermore, due to the snowfall, more tourists are expected to visit Manali and Shimla.

Leopard Kills 2 Kids; Shimla Locals Demand To Declare It 'Man-eater'

Locals in Uttarakhand's Shimla under the banner of ''Shimla Nagrik Sabha'' demanded from the forest department to declare a leopard which hunted two children within three months a ''man-eater''. They also said that the government should also provide ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the victim's family. It'll be declared a ''man-eater'' after the physical test of the leopard, said Anil Thakur, Principal Chief Conservator.

Kalka-Shimla Train Derails; Passengers Unharmed

According to railway officials, a passenger train from Kalka to Shimla derailed at Barog railway station on September 22. "The train suddenly derailed from the track at Barog railway-station at 7.45 am, but the reason is not known yet," a railway and traffic police official stated. As per the direction of HP's emergency center, a rain-led landslide at Jeori near Rampur in Shimla has shut down NH-5 for the public. Authorities claim no loss of life & property. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rampur & a police team has been stationed by the DM to examine the situation. Heavy rain during the monsoon season in eco-fragile Himachal Pradesh has caused frequent landslides.
